Health screening saves lives

We take your health seriously, so should your employers.

Unite’s Screen Time campaign is about encouraging our members to take time out to attend health screenings and medical appointments. And ensuring they get paid time off from their employers to do so.

NHS screening is free. Early detection of cancer and other conditions, when treatment is more likely to be successful, can make all the difference.

Our demands
  • We want employers:
    To sign up to Unite’s model ‘Prevention and Early Screening’ agreement, and
  • To give paid time for workers to attend medical screening for the early detection and prevention of cancer and other medical conditions – including mammograms and prostrate screening as well as NHS ‘well women’ and ‘well men’ clinics, and;
  • To deliver a ‘health screening’ information campaign, linked to the cancer awareness calendar.
  • To promote a culture of good health by sharing positive living messages.
  • To include a clause on paid time off for health screening in an appropriate existing policy.
