Unite hails Royal College of Occupational Therapists recognition agreement

Unite, the UK’s leading union, has negotiated a recognition agreement for its members employed by the Royal College of Occupational Therapists (RCOT). .
The agreement ensures Unite’s growing membership at RCOT have collective trade union bargaining rights when it comes to pay and conditions.
Unite general secretary Sharon Graham said: “Unite’s members at the Royal College of Occupational Therapists are now covered by a new recognition agreement.
“This will be a great platform to grow the union across RCOT and demonstrates that Unite is constantly enhancing the jobs, pay and conditions of our members.”
The recognition agreement with RCOT, which is the membership body for occupational therapists, covers around 100 workers at the organisation which is based in central London. The workers provide membership and organisational services, develop policy and advocate for those working in the profession.
Unite regional officer Matt Freeman said: “Nearly 72 per cent of staff voted in favour of recognition on a turnout of 90 per cent. We’re pleased to have the confidence of two thirds of staff working at the organisation below senior management level.
“This agreement is the result of a positive and constructive relationship having been developed with the Royal College of Occupational Therapists.”
