Immingham DB Cargo workers celebrate £11,700 pay victory secured by Unite
- Thursday 6 November 2025
A group of Immingham DB Cargo workers are celebrating after Unite secured them £11,723 each in backpay.
Unite successfully negotiated the settlement for three long serving staff after it was discovered that workers employed after them were receiving higher overall pay.
The issue dated back to 2017, when the three workers were not included in an updated pay structure that saw newer employees receive paid breaks.
Unite general secretary Sharon Graham said: “This is a huge win for the impacted workers at DB Cargo.
“Whether it is one worker or a thousand, Unite is totally committed to defending and improving the jobs, pay and conditions of our members whenever and wherever we can.”
The discrepancy was first noticed in December 2024 and Unite began consultations with the company shortly afterwards.
Unite regional officer Andy Cullen said: “I want to congratulate our members for their persistence and unity — especially given the time-sensitive and challenging nature of the situation.
“This result is another reminder of why those who want to improve their wages and working lives should join Unite and organise their colleagues to do the same.”
