Industrial action called off after agreement reached with employer
Thousands of Unite members at Airbus have voted to accept a new pay agreement following a recent ballot. The outcome means that industrial action will no longer take place.
The agreement, reached after prolonged negotiations between Unite representatives and Airbus management includes enhancements to members pensions.
Unite general secretary Sharon Graham said: “I’m pleased that our members stood together and by doing so they have achieved this improved deal that sees increases to their pay and pensions. It is nothing less than their skill and determination deserves.”
The new, one-year deal sees workers receive a 3.6 per cent pay increase as well as a £500 one-off payment. In addition, Unite has negotiated significant increases and improvements to the pension schemes that sees an uplift in employer contributions.
Unite national officer for aerospace Rhys McCarthy said: “We welcome the outcome of the ballot and are pleased that industrial action will now be avoided. This agreement reflects the hard work and commitment of our members while supporting the company’s long-term stability”
