North Air serves passenger and military aircraft airlines 

 
Unite the union has today (7 August) hailed the latest success at Prestwick airport as a union recognition agreement has been secured with North Air.
 
Around twenty tanker drivers employed by North Air who supply fuel to airlines operating at Prestwick airport will be represented by Unite in negotiations over enhancing jobs, pay and conditions through collective bargaining.
 
North Air provides refuelling services for domestic, cargo and military aircraft who fly into and out of the publicly owned airport.
 
The latest success for Unite at Prestwick airport builds on a pay deal for over 400 workers in June. A pay rise from 5.1 up to eight per cent alongside an extra day annual leave for this year, and improvements to shift payments and pension contributions was delivered for members with the deal backdated to 1 April.
 
Unite general secretary Sharon Graham said: “The recognition agreement for tanker drivers is another significant win for Unite at Prestwick airport.  It shows that we are going from strength to strength at the airport delivering better jobs, pay and conditions for our members.”
 
In April, Unite also confirmed that it secured wage wins for North Air workers based across Scottish airports.
 
Over 80 tanker drivers and airfield operators based at Aberdeen, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Inverness, Kirkwall (Orkney), Sumburgh (Shetland) and Stornoway airports benefited from a 4.2 per cent wage win, and a boost to allowances backdated to April.  
 
Unite industrial officer Siobhan McCready, said: “Unite delivers for our members at Prestwick airport. This recognition agreement for North Air tanker drivers will give us a platform to build on. It will now allow us to formally negotiate on pay and wider working conditions for our members which is a big step forward.”
