Unite, the UK's leading union, has secured recognition for workers at North Tyneside Citizens Advice Bureau.

Approximately 85 employees at the organisation will be covered by the new agreement, which has come after 14 months of constructive negotiations between the union and Citizens Advice.

Workers will now have formal representation, allowing them to negotiate on pay, conditions and workplace changes.

Unite general secretary Sharon Graham said: "This is an excellent win for Unite members at North Tyneside Citizens Advice Bureau.

"Going forward, they now will be able to collectively improve workers' jobs, pay and conditions at the organisation."

As part of the agreement, the workforce now has two elected workplace representatives and two health and safety reps, which will provide meaningful day to day support for staff, improve communication between employees and management and ensure workers have trained, accountable representatives championing their interests.

The addition of dedicated health and safety reps will also enhance workplace safety, risk management, and wellbeing for all employees.

Unite regional officer Craig Patterson said: "This is a positive development for staff at North Tyneside Citizens Advice. It lays the foundation for collective bargaining and ensures that workers have a strong, independent voice in shaping their working environment."
