Great Yarmouth council maintenance and repair staff will be balloted on a new offer on terms and conditions.

Strikes starting on Monday (19 October) by 40 workers at Great Yarmouth Borough Council (GYBC) have been halted following a new offer from the employer.

The Unite members, who are maintenance and repair workers, were due to walk out on Monday and Tuesday (20 October) in a dispute around terms and conditions. However, this has now been called off following an offer of improvements from the council.

Workers will now be balloted on whether or not to accept this.

Unite regional officer Keith Henderson said: "Following negotiations with Great Yarmouth Borough Council, we have paused industrial action to allow members to have their say on the new offer."
