Offshore dispute at Wood Group escalates in strike action ballot
- Monday 5 October 2026
Unite says it will resist all attempts to slash jobs, pay and conditions
Strike action involving Wood Group offshore workers starts tomorrow (6 October) as part of a series of stoppages on assets operated by Harbour Energy.
Unite is in dispute with the Wood Group over its decision to slash the pay, and conditions of dozens of workers, including the issuing fire and rehire notices.
Strike action starts at 00.01 on 6 October and will last until 23.59 on 7 October. Further days of action will take place on 20-21 October, and 3-4 November over the same hours.
Sharon Graham Unite general secretary said: “Unite will not allow the Wood Group to slash and burn our members’ pay and conditions. This is a profitable company and it is despicable that it is threatening to fire and rehire its workers. This is corporate greed in its worst form.”
The Harbour Energy platforms impacted by the industrial disruption include the Britannia, Jasmine, Judy, Lomond and North Everest. The workers include electrical, production, instrument and mechanical technicians.
The Wood Group made post-tax profits amounting to $3 million in 2024, and 2023 which is the equivalent to a current exchange value of £2.3 million.
Unite industrial officer Vic Fraser said: "Industrial action will inevitably impact the operation of Harbour Energy’s offshore assets. The workforce has been left with no option but to strike against the Wood Group’s threats and intimidation. Our members are saying enough is enough.”
