Striking Livv Housing workers march through Knowsley

Hundreds of striking Livv Housing workers marched through Knowsley demanding a fair pay rise.

The housing workers began striking in October 2024, with the dispute stemming from years of below-inflation pay increases.

The workers rejected a five per cent pay rise as it fails to reverse the real terms pay cuts they have endured previously.

Livv Housing, which manages properties primarily in Knowsley, reported reserves of £110.6 million in March 2024.

Unite general secretary Sharon Graham said: “Our members are rock solid in their determination to win the fair pay rise they deserve. Livv Housing is extremely wealthy and can more than afford to put forward a fair pay offer. The pressure will not relent until that happens.”

The long running pay strikes by hundreds of Livv Housing workers intensified as contractors brought in by Livv Housing in an attempt to undermine the industrial action were named and shamed.

The workers are currently taking strike action until 30 March with tenant services to more than 13,000 homes are being affected. Unite’s members recently voted to extend their industrial action mandates, meaning strikes could extend well into the summer.

The dispute also involves members from the Unison union.
