Unite, the UK’s leading union, has secured around 150 workers at Telford’s Heinz Food Service factory a pay rise of 11 per cent.

Unite general secretary Sharon Graham said: “By standing together in their union, our members at Heinz’s Telford factory have secured a substantial pay rise. As this result shows, Unite’s total focus on improving jobs, pay and conditions is winning for union members.”

The workers produce condiments sachets for the hospitality industry. The deal was negotiated without the need for industrial action.

Unite national officer Joe Clarke said: “Our Telford Heinz members have been through a difficult couple of years, with many being furloughed during the pandemic. Since then, they have made numerous efficiency improvements to the site and so sorely deserved a proper pay rise, which Unite has secured.”
