Bin strikes by around 150 South Gloucestershire workers have ended after Unite, the UK’s leading union, secured an improved pay offer. 

The workers, who are employed by Suez, voted in favour of the new offer and will receive a 10.1 per cent pay rise.  

Unite general secretary Sharon Graham said: “Suez workers in South Gloucestershire stood firm in their union and secured a significantly improved offer. This is a well-deserved result for them and more evidence that Unite’s focus on enhancing jobs, pay and conditions is winning for our members.”

In recent weeks, Unite members carrying out refuse services at Bristol Waste and Suez in Somerset have also won pay rises following disputes.

Unite regional officer Ken Fish said: “This result is another reminder that those wanting to improve their wages and working lives should join Unite and encourage their colleagues to do the same.”
