Unite secures East Midlands Trent Barton bus engineers pay rise of between 20% and 26%
- Thursday 19 October 2023
Unite, the UK’s leading union, has secured a pay rise of between 20 per cent and 25.8 per cent for 100 Trent Barton bus engineers across five sites in Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire and Leicestershire.
The deal, which was secured without the need for industrial action, was agreed without changes to the workers’ terms and conditions.
Trent Barton apprentice engineers have also benefited from the deal and will now receive seven per cent higher pay than the national minimum for apprentices.
Unite general secretary Sharon Graham said: “This is an excellent deal secured through the hard work and negotiating skills of Unite’s workplace reps and officials. The pay rise secured at Trent Barton is leading the way in showing other bus employers that they must pay their workers the correct rate for the job. If they fail to do so Unite is putting them on notice that it is relentless when it comes to defending and improving our members’ jobs, terms and conditions.”
The workers are officially employed by Trent Motor Traction Limited, which operates as Trent Barton.
Unite regional coordinating officer Scott Lennon said: “We will continue to ensure Unite members have the highest rate of pay for the passenger transport sector and will continue to improve the terms and conditions for all. There is power in a union and we urge those wishing to improve their wages and working lives to join Unite.”
