7.75 per cent basic pay rise accelerates Unite’s Runway to Success campaign
Unite has delivered a new pay deal for firefighters based at Aberdeen airport, Scotland’s leading aviation trade union confirmed today (Thursday 15 August).
Around 30 Falck firefighters who perform fire safety functions at the airport have secured a basic hourly wage increase of 7.75 per cent and an equivalent rise in shift allowances.
The deal which runs from January 2024 also includes a one-off payment of £160, double time for hours worked on public holidays and an increase in overtime rates.
Unite general secretary Sharon Graham said: “Unite has delivered a significant wage win for Falck firefighters based at Aberdeen airport. Our Runway to Success campaign is accelerating and clocking up win after win all around Scotland.
“The message to all airport workers is clear, if you want better jobs, pay and conditions - join Unite.”
Unite has secured a string of successes as part of its ‘Runway To Success’ campaign which is designed to establish standards above the legal minimums across Scottish airports. These include:
- 12.8 per cent for Aberdeen and Glasgow airport ICTS workers.
- 12 per cent basic increase in pay for Edinburgh Airport Services workers.
- 11.9 per cent basic increase for over 100 OCS workers based at Edinburgh airport.
- 10 per cent pay rise for ABM workers at Glasgow airport
- 7.75 per cent for Skytanking workers at Inverness airport.
Shauna Wright, Unite industrial officer, said: “The Falck pay deal was overwhelmingly backed by our firefighter members who provide safety critical services at Aberdeen airport.
“Unite has negotiated another airport wage deal which will make a real difference to the lives of our members.”
