Unite secures pay award of up to 12.5% for workers at CNOOC
Unite members working for CNOOC have today (25 June) given their backing to a new pay deal negotiated by Unite. Members voted to accept a pay offer worth up to 12.5 per cent on base pay and a lump sum of £2,000, backdated to 1 April 2024.
This offer covers over 140 workers working as technicians and senior technicians on the Scott, Buzzard, and Golden Eagle installations.
Unite negotiated a recognition agreement with the company in 2023 in response to workers’ concerns. This is the first test of the new agreement and highlights the importance members placed in having their pay, terms and conditions negotiated by a union.
Unite general secretary Sharon Graham said: “Members joined Unite as they wanted to have their workplace issues fully addressed, and we have now started delivering for them. This pay increase clearly shows the benefit of being in a Unite recognised workplace.”
Unite regional secretary John Boland said: “This was the first pay negotiation since gaining Unite recognition in 2023 and we have now begun the process of addressing years of no pay increases and stagnating wages.”
