Hounslow CCTV strikes off after Unite backpay win
- Tuesday 10 September 2024
Strikes by London borough of Hounslow CCTV operators employed by NSL have ended after Unite secured a deal for the workers’ outstanding 2023 pay claim.
Due to Hounslow council changing contracts, the workers transferred employment in December 2023 from Serco to NSL with the same pay, terms and conditions.
However, their pay claim for 2023, which was tabled at the beginning of that year with Serco, was not settled until the workers announced strikes would begin on 2 September.
On Friday 30 August, Hounslow council and NSL put forward an offer and industrial action was suspended.
Following acceptance of the deal by the workers, which will see them receive back pay from April 2023 to November 2023, all strikes have now been called off.
Unite general secretary Sharon Graham said: “By being prepared to strike, NSL’s Hounslow CCTV operators forced the council and their new employer to take responsibility and settle their 2023 pay claim. Once again, Unite’s total dedication to defending and improving jobs, pay and conditions is putting money in our members’ pockets.”
Unite regional officer Lui D’Cunha said: “This result shows why it pays to be part of Unite. Well done to our reps and members whose solidarity was key to achieving this deal.”
