400 aviation workers secure better jobs, pay and conditions
Unite, Scotland’s leading aviation union, can confirm today (30 July) that over 400 members based at Aberdeen airport have backed multiple pay deals.
Around 180 Skytanking ‘front-of-house’ customer service, ramp and bagging agents accepted a basic five per cent increase, while over 100 ICTS Central Search workers similarly backed a 4.5 per cent increase to basic pay and allowances. The ICTS workers deal with passengers directly in the security search areas and process them for flights.
The union has also successfully negotiated a basic four per cent increase for around 80 workers employed by Aberdeen Airport Limited. The workers include airport ambassadors, airside support officers, engineers and managers.
A further 40 Falck firefighters who perform fire safety functions at the airport accepted a 4.5 per cent offer on basic pay also successfully negotiated by Unite.
Unite general secretary Sharon Graham said: “Unite has delivered good pay increases for hundreds of workers based at Aberdeen airport. These are wins for airport workers and it sends a clear message that if you want better jobs, pay and conditions then join Unite.”
Paula Buchan, Unite industrial officer, said: “Unite has successfully negotiated a significant boost to the pay packets of hundreds of workers based at Aberdeen airport. We are pleased that the companies negotiated in good faith with Unite and improved offers were made which our members believed were acceptable.”
