Planned strikes due to take place today this week by Great Yarmouth refuse workers have been suspended following last minute negotiations with the employer.

Unite regional officer Andreas Kuchner said:

"In the spirit of good relations our members at GYS agreed to suspend this week's strike action, negotiate, and hopefully agree on a suitable offer which can be brought to the members."

Refuse workers were due to strike over poor pay that has led many being unable to make ends meet in the current cost-of-living crisis.
