Derbyshire Forged Solutions metal workers pay win ends strike threat
- Tuesday 6 October 2026
A strike threat by Darley Dale metal workers employed by Forged Solutions has ended after an improved pay deal was secured.
The two-year deal includes a 3.75 per cent pay rise backdated to April, an increase to weekend overtime shift premium rates and a £200 lump sum, plus an inflation linked pay rise in 2027.
Members of Unite, the UK’s leading union, announced strike action after voting to reject an initial 3.4 per cent pay offer.
Following negotiations between Unite and Forged Solutions, the improved offered was accepted by the workers.
Unite general secretary Sharon Graham said: “Forged Solutions improved its offer because these workers were willing to take strike action for a fair deal. Their achievement shows the power of standing together as workers in Unite in action.”
The deal was secured without any industrial action taking place.
Unite regional officer Anne Connor said: “This win is another reminder that those wanting to a better deal at work should join Unite and get their colleagues to join as well.”
