Planned strikes by Unite members at the Cameronbridge distillery, owned by drinks giant Diageo, have been suspended.

Following one day of strike action that took place on 12 October, further planned strikes over job losses on 15, 19 and 22 October have been called off.

Unite regional officer Dougie Orchardson commented: "As a gesture of goodwill, and to facilitate talks between Unite, Diageo and Acas, we have agreed to suspend planned strike action this October."

Action short of strike, including an overtime ban, will continue while talks take place.

Diageo produces high-profile brands including Johnnie Walker, Crown Royal, J&B, Buchanan’s and Windsor whiskies, Smirnoff, Cîroc and Ketel One vodkas, Captain Morgan, Baileys, Don Julio, Tanqueray and Guinness.
