Workers reject below inflation pay offer

 
Approximately 120 workers employed by TechnipFMC will take strike action in an escalating pay dispute.
 
In the strike ballot, Unite members emphatically backed taking industrial action by 92.75 per cent at the Dunfermline based firm.
 
The workers have rejected an unacceptable pay offer below the rate of inflation from TechnipFMC which designs and manufactures wellheads and specialist subsea equipment for the oil and gas industry. 
 
The strike action will begin on 14 September and continue each day up to 21 September when the action will end at 06:59 hours. A continuous overtime ban will also be in place from the start of strike action.
 
Unite general secretary Sharon Graham said: “TechnipFMC is owned by a very profitable parent company which could easily end this dispute by making our members a fair offer. The company has chosen not to do so in order to further boost its profits at the expense of its workforce.”
 
The company’s parent group TechnipFMC has recently announced its latest earnings in July stating in the second quarter of 2026 that net income hit $362.7 million which is equivalent to around £270m.
 
Unite industrial officer, Graeme Smith said: “The blame for the escalation in the dispute is down to a greedy parent company which refuses to share its vast wealth with its highly skilled workforce.
 
“Strike action will inevitably cause considerable disruption to TechnipFMC’s client base, but the company has brought this on itself with its failure to table a fair pay offer.”
