Basic pay lifted by 9.6 per cent over 21 months

Unite can confirm over 300 workers at the Tunnock's factory in Uddingston have accepted an improved pay offer removing the threat of potential strike action. 

The pay deal over 21 months will lift basic pay from £13 per hour up to £13.61 from July 1 2026, and then it will rise to £14.25 from April 1 2027. This represents a 9.6 per cent increase in pay. 

Unite general secretary Sharon Graham said: "This is a significant victory for Tunnock's workers who by being prepared to take strike action, secured a greatly improved pay offer." 

Tunnock’s workers had overwhelmingly backed strike action. This resulted in the company making an enhanced pay offer which was backed by the majority of members. 

The Tunnock’s plant founded in 1850 is best known for producing confections such as Teacakes and Caramel Wafers. 

Unite industrial officer Debbie Hutchings said: "Tunnock’s returned to the negotiating table after our members stood firm and refused to swallow unacceptable pay offers from the company.   

“The deal backed by our members builds on the recent progress made at Tunnock’s which has improved the jobs, pay and conditions of the workforce.”
