Strikes by Ellesmere Port Electrical Oil Services workers have ended after an improved pay offer was secured, Unite, the UK’s leading union, said today.

The workers, who are plant operators, voted to accept a three per cent rise back dated to January and a further one per cent from September.

Unite general secretary Sharon Graham said: “Well done to the workers at Electrical Oil Services who achieved the pay rise they wanted and deserved by taking strike action. As this deal shows Unite is unrelenting when it comes to protecting and improving our members’ jobs, pay and conditions.”

All scheduled strike action has been cancelled with staff returning work as normal.

Unite regional officer Andrew Johnson said: “This pay rise could not have been achieved without the dedication and solidarity of these workers. It is yet another reminder that workers who join Unite and rally their colleagues to do the same win.”
