Shetland based members secure better jobs, pay and conditions
Unite can reveal today (Tuesday 6 May) that it has delivered its latest recognition agreement at the Sullom Voe terminal in the Shetland Islands this time for Sodexo workers.

The Sodexo recognition agreement covers over 30 workers who provide catering and facility management services. This includes roles such as catering, cleaning , warehouse and logistics, garage services, and pest control.

Unite general secretary Sharon Graham said: The latest recognition agreement at the Sullom Voe terminal this time for Sodexo workers is another example of Unite delivering for our members. There is no doubt the hard work which Unite is putting in to represent workers at the terminal is driving up the quality of jobs, pay and conditions in the Shetlands.”
The recognition agreement means that Unite has a stronger platform to undertake collective bargaining on behalf of the Sodexo workers in order to improve jobs, pay and conditions at the terminal.
In January, Unite also secured a recognition agreement with Wilson James Security covering around 20 workers. The workers provide security services on site for EnQuest to patrol the premises in order to ensure the security and safety at the Sullom Voe terminal.
Isabella Sutherland, Unite industrial officer, said: “The recognition agreement covering our Sodexo members is another big step forward for all workers at Sullom Voe. We are pleased that the agreement was voluntarily negotiated with the company and it was overwhelmingly backed by our members. The agreement provides a stronger platform for Unite to secure better working conditions for our members across Sullom Voe”
