Unite wins recognition for workers at Harrods
- Tuesday 5 May 2026
Unite has won recognition for almost 50 workers at luxury west London store Harrods.
Engineering, maintenance staff and members of the fire, health and safety teams will now be formally represented by Unite, allowing for collective bargaining on pay and conditions.
They join their colleagues who work as security guards and cleaners in having formal recognition. Workers had been seeking formal recognition for several months.
Unite general secretary Sharon Graham said: "This is an excellent win our members at Harrods, who have been seeking recognition for many months.
"We are delighted to have formal recognition for more members and look forward to working with the employer to secure better pay and conditions for workers."
Unite has around 400 members at Harrods, in nearly every department. The union is currently working hard to get all of these employees under a union recognition agreement.
Unite regional officer Keith Henderson says: "The union will now focus on working with Harrods to create a comprehensive formal recognition agreement.
"This will allow more staff at Harrods to improve their pay and conditions for themselves and their colleagues and is an important step closer to achieving recognition for all Unite members at the department store."
