Strikes by around 130 workers at Leeds Bradford Airport will not go ahead from tomorrow (16 October).

Workers including air traffic controllers and hourly paid staff, which includes key airport staff such as passport control workers, check-in staff, security, passenger assistance and cleaners were due to take action from tomorrow (16 October) to Sunday (18 October).

However, they have been given new pay offers from the airport and strikes will not happen over the weekend to allow workers to be balloted on them. Air traffic controllers and hourly paid staff are being balloted separately on their respective offers.

Unite regional officer Neil Whitaker said: "After receiving offers from Leeds Bradford Airport, we have suspended this week’s strike action in good faith to allow members to vote on pay deals.”

Should these pay deals be rejected, planned strikes from 23 October to 2 November will go ahead.
